After the proposal, it seems instantaneous that people ask you what, when and where. The crazy thing is that, one is not given the chance to even mentally digest the proposal or even enjoy the engagement.
During wedding planning, one is sick and tired of hearing “it is your day; you can do whatever you want.” Although people say this, they do not mean it as they still give their opinion as to how one should prepare or plan their wedding.
What the wedding magazines do not say is that one should not get carried away with superficial things. For instance, the ceremony is the most significant as it where couple vow to devote their lives to one another. When one stops to think about this life changing moment, it is extremely private; however, you have asked your family and friends to witness this event. Therefore, it does not matter, what type of flowers are in your bouquet, the colour of bridesmaids dresses, themes, ribbons, cakes, décor..etc.
What matters in the end is the couple’s devotion to each other. All the décor, pretty dresses, reception menu, party favours and centerpieces will be forgotten. The wedding day only is one day (in some cultures, it maybe 3 or 7 days long) but the marriage is a lifetime; therefore, spend time in creating and building a marriage.
